There are two types or group of turbine
•Reaction Turbine 
•Impulse Turbine 
Impulse Turbine:-Work on principle of impulse moment hence it call impulse turbine .
                  :-At inlet water posses only kinetic energy then it calls as impulse turbine. 
                   -Impulse turbines are used in very high 250mto1600 m head. 
 Reaction Turbine :- At inlet water posses both kinetic energy as well as pressure energy so called reaction        
                                  turbine.
